Kevin Smith, Former Deputy Minister of Vocabulary Wrongity

I think Steve was more right than I was.

T.S.:
"Wow, look at this laundry list of complaints. Says you have no directiion, no college ambition, no job prospects..."
Brodie:"Yeah, it also says I have no dick. But you'll notice that follows the financial question, proving once more what women really look for."
T.S.:"Oh no, she calls you callow in here."
Brodie:"You say that like it's bad."
T.S.:"Well, it means frightened and weak-willed."
Brodie:"Really. Sh*t, that was the only part of the letter I thought was complimentary."

This must have been after I quit.

I was confused as well - I remember the "callow" incident, but it didn't go down like Carl quotes above. The fact that Carl frequently refers to me as "Brodie" made me think that he was supposed to be T.S.

Of course, the above is a quote from Mallrats, a movie I've never seen. Carl is revealing where his misunderstanding of the word came from (which explains the post's title).

Carl's blog posts are often a form of word puzzle that require a bit of brainpower to bring to fruition.

Incidentally, I'm not sure where the misuse of callow stems from (besides Smith); I wonder if it has to do with some kind of mashup of craven and sallow.

I believe it was during Shawn's feeding.

And the reference explains my misunderstanding of the word, it's an actual quote from the movie.

A few pre-holy-day thoughts:

1. My posts are not a form of word puzzle. They are Buddhist koans that will give you HEAD EXPLODIE! if you meditate on them with HUMILITEH.

2. Never...seen..Mallrats? My god, what a startling admission. MALLRATS. Sweet merciful Christ on a bike. That's like saying you didn't see Apocalypse Now. Citizen Kane, Birth of a Nation? MALLRATS! The Searchers? Casablanca, The Godfather (part 2), MALLRATS. Metropolis, Annie Hall, MALLRATS. Lawrence of Arabie, The Deerhunter, god fuck you MALLRATS!

This is such a blow. It's like...it's like I don't even *know* you...*SOB*

I always thought that Mallrats was looked on as a disappointment. For the record, not only did I see it, I was on the fucking set!

A friend of mine was catering their coffee, and she asked if I wanted to help out. So, I helped her at her little stand as we handed out coffee. I think Shanon Doherty was the only celeb that actually came to the cart.

Oh, like you've seen Birth of a Nation?

For the record, I haven't seen "The Searchers" or "Metropolis" yet either. Both are on my list. Mallrats is not.

It is a bunch of outrage, is what it is. You can skip Metropolis, for the record.
